| The Daily Telegraph described Asturias as “Wales on Steroids”. For the adventure biker we couldn’t agree more. Apart from amazing riding on sweeping mountain roads, don’t be surprised to see the local wildlife including eagles, deer and wild boar. |

People and culture Spanish bag pipes!
Asturias has a heavy Celtic influence yet is still a traditional and ancient Spanish province. This makes for an interesting cultural experience. It is very common to see a local version of the bag pipes and pipers at the local fiestas, of which there are many. It is possible to plan your tour around a specific fiesta. The region has apple orchards for cider production (yes, cider in Spain!) and a largely rural economy outside of the regional ancient capital of Oviedo. All this means that the pace of life in this area is calmer and more relaxed than other, more developed, areas of Spain. |

Food and drink. Cider in Spain?
The start point of the tour, Nava, is renowned as the cider capital of Spain. There is a cider festival every July and we can arrange a tour to sample the various different ciders as well as a visit to the local cider museum. This will give you a fascinating insight into just one of the rural activities of the region that you will be riding through. |

The most traditional Asturian food is Fabada, which is a bean and meat stew. Great lunchtime food for bikers. Game meat is also popular in Asturias as is fresh fish.
The food provided in Asturian restaurants is traditional home cooking. One thing is for sure, you will not be hungry at the end of each day.
